It's hard to think that we believe we are all that on the animal kingdom but we know nothing about our own brains.so how smart does that make us?

I have been involved in early childhood for more than 25 years and the amount of new information is almost as impressive as just how much there still is to learn.

It is just amazing to see how much the babies learn while you think they are just sitting idle.

Amazing. Ive never come across such interesting information about the brain. The eyes are a baby's open door to learning. So much I think we take for granted. Thr section on Mind illusions was wow, that Lincon picture completely amazed me. We and children are so much more capable than we give ourselves credit for. Why are children not taught these wonderful brain capacities and capabilities at school?

Sometimes in some schools chilren are taught about these things; but unfortunately it is often placed at a much lower priority than even what I would consider more trivial issues.

The brain is a wonderful thing, it is a wonder that we still do not know too much about it, as it says. What else is there to know?

It's impossible to know what we don't know :-)

I wonder what kind of technology they will have to discover in order to discover what we've had possession of for many thousands of years. Ah, the human brain. So close, and yet so far.

A lot of information to process. However, it's neat that there is so much and still more being discovered. We are definitely complex, marvelous beings.

I didn't realize brain cells developed at 250,000 per min at just 4 weeks gestation. I guess that's why it's so important to get early prenatal care.

I thought that my Granddaughter was just setting there looking at me boy was I wrong...Every move that I made she was learning something from me...I will work alot different with the kids at my Daycare as well

its hard to imaging that at just four weeks into a pregancy they are roughly the size of a jelly bean yet they are already produceing thousands of nurons it shows just how remarkable thhe human mind is

It is so amazing to see how the brain works with newborns even while they are just "staring off in space". We usually just think they aren't really doing anything while they are growing their brains and what they learn all the time.

i think it is crazy how much our schools dont teach us about our own brains. i wish they would have taught us about this stuff in school.

when you look at the babies face you can see that they are really studying what is going on and what is happening. but i didnt realize how much they are studying.

i didnt realize how much my brain studied things at such a young age. i think that it is amazing how much they are taking in while they seem to be doing nothing at all.

It is amazing how perfect could be our brain!!!
The video of Babyś brain explains that human brain is the most complex thing on earth. For example, the human brain has around 10,000 neuron cells and each one can make 1 to 10,000 of connection with others cells. So, our brain could define us who we are.
Thanks,
Catalina

Wow!! It is crazy how complex our brain really is. The babies brain has billions and billions of neuron. That these neurons connect and the children learn. But that something so complex and fascinating can be so vulnerable as well.

Its amazing how a single letter can set off a complex reaction in the brain. How the brain connects the image to the sound and meaning of the letter when learning to read. How the connections of the brain work is just incredible.
Its crazy that within the first year of life the brain increases 3x in volume, the neurons develop 2x the amount of connections, and the energy of the brain doubles. The images in the video were extremely interesting to watch.

The brain is an amazing organ in our body especially in children. When most people think children are doing nothing but staring at a toy they are actually learning.Simply amazing

I think technology is nice to have because I think its great that by doing an mri that you can tell how deveoped the brain is.its amazing how much a babys brain takes in at such a young age.

Its incredile to see how much a babies brain takes on. This was a very interesting video to watch

Beautiful video's - the brain ultimately being the source of everything...is amazing. All providers working with infants and toddlers should watch this video to stop and think about who they are really working with and what they could be doing to stimulate the development of the children's brains they work with.

Both these videos are very interesting! Its amazing how complex the brain is. The brain wires itself and has trillions of connections, but knows how and where to connect. AMAZING!

It is true how overwhelming it is to think about how complex the Brain really is. The amount of processes that go on is CRAZY. I have a new found respect for the Human Brain- James Hudlin

It's amazing how many neurons are in a piece of the brain the size of a grain of rice!

have they developed better ways on tracking the development of premature babies??

CR Petersen said...

Yes, there has been some amazing research; however there is much more to be done before significantly better implementation.

It will be interesting to see in the future what researchers find with the advanced imaging equipment for babies. This is exciting to think there can be a way to detect abnormalities such as: AD&D and Autism at such an early age.

The technologies are getting more and more advanced and highly positive that we would see more developments in MRIs for babies in the long run. This just strengthens the importance of early childhood learning and that it should be taken seriously
